Fitness & Flow Arts
What is IFAD and MPSPORT2017? Wondering, how we came up with the idea for IFAD, and just what is Marseille-Provence Capitale Européenne du Sport 2017 (MPSPORT2017)?
Every year since 2001, the Association de Capitale Européenne du Sport (ACES Europe) a non-profit federation based in Brussels, assigns the awards of European Capital, City, Community and Town of Sport; for a period of one calendar year. The allocation of these recognitions is done by ACES Europe, according to the principles of responsibility and ethics. Being aware that sport is a factor of aggregation of the society, improves the quality of life, psycho-physical well-being and complete integration within social classes in the community.
When MPSPORT2017 and the city of Marseille called for projects, from local sports associations in 2015, we at association Hoop de Mars submitted our candidature to participate as a part of the official program of events for 2017. In the fall of 2016 we received the good news, that our association had been accepted, and honored with the label of bronze; for its impact in the city of Marseille and the region of Bouches-du-Rhône! We decided to take this opportunity to do something a little different, and instead of the hoop jam we had originally proposed as our event project; we would create an inaugural annual flow arts event. That would invite the entire international flow arts community, to come out and play…and International Flow Arts Day was born.
A day dedicated to celebrating health, fitness, expression through movement, and solidarity via flow arts. IFAD is a day of community, fun, and skill sharing. A day where flow artists/prop manipulators come together, reach out to one another, and share our passion for flow arts with the communities we live in; because we believe flow arts improves one’s sense of well-being, promotes a healthier lifestyle, and openness to others.
